Meet Suzie!!!

This picture was taken right after her first bath... before a haircut or anything.
This picture was after her first haircut :( She looks so unhappy and I was not happy with what they did... but she was a big mat when she was taken in so they had to shave it all off. She was much happier once I took that silly bandanna off... we aren't going there again.

So as many of you know we have been trying to adopt a dog. We quickly learned that dog adoption is not easy! We have filled out countless numbers of applications and contacted so many individuals about adopting their available animals. For some reason we never even made it to the home visit portion (yes they do home visits before they let you meet the animal). Our assumption was that we were not "acceptable" for two reasons...

1. We do not own our home (this is crap in my mind but whatever... they can be as picky as they want I suppose)
2. We do not have a fenced yard (again, I understand, but crap. Just because we do not have a fenced yard doesn't mean we aren't wonderful pet owners!)

So after many tears (yes, I cried, a few time, I'm a cryer) and a break from looking because it was exhausting getting denied over and over again we decided to try craigslist.

Well a couple days ago I found an adorable little maltese in need of a new home, she was 8 years old (already not appealing to many people) and was formerly a breeding dog. She was not very socialized and didn't really know how to be a real dog. So I went to meet the owner and the cute little pup. When they pulled her out of the car she was all dirty and matted, poor little thing had been living outside for the summer. (I should have taken pictures!) and when I said "I'll take her!" She handed me a cardboard box to put her in ( yes she put her in a box top and all) and then tied a string onto her collar instead of a leash. Aaagghh!!! I didn't know what to say, so I kept my mouth shut, handed over the $75 rehoming fee and took my new little girl home!!! Of course I took the top of that darn box off as soon as we got out of site and went straight to petsmart to spoil her rotten. :)

So my sweet little girl is now in my lap (after a much needed bath) just chillin and keeping me toasty. Hopefully Leela (my parents dog) and Sara (my grandparents dog) will help teach my little pup how to actually be a dog! She doesn't know what treats are and I don't think she knows what to do with a toy (she just looks at it with this look like "what am I suppose to do with this?")

I am just so happy we were able to save this sweet little thing from god only knows what kind of life. I'm so excited to have her!!! :)

My First Blog!

So since I am starting a new chapter in my life I figured lets start a new blog too! I look at Jackie's and love the lay out and how its easy to follow so I thought I would give it a shot! You may be asking "what is this new chapter she speaks of?" Well it would be my engagement to my incredible fiance Andrew! :) For so long I wondered if I would find "the one" because it sounded to good to be true. That and the fact that I had become so darn picky! Then we met at a Hockey game a couple years back (March 11th 2006 to be exact) and have been attached at the hip since!

So I'll move on to the engagement story... Last year Andrew and I spent the 4th of July weekend at our dear friends Cj and Lauren's lake cabin in eastern washington. It is about 20 miles outside of Colville if your curios. We had an incredible time and decided to do the same thing again this year! I had been looking forward to this trip for months (the closest thing we have had to a real vacation in a LONG time!) Little did I know he had this proposal planned for awhile. When we met up at a friends place to carpool over on the 3rd he passed the ring off to be hidden so I wouldn't find it in our stuff! I was in a mood that evening (so I think I'm lucky he still wanted me!) So I cool off on the ride over and we have a great time. The next day, the 4th of July is overcast and not too warm (strange for that area and upsetting because we want to play on the boat!) So I was inside reading and Andrew had gone off to run some errands with a friend. When he came back he saw me sitting their and motioned for me to come into our room (I figured he needed help with something or wanted to take a nap... I was up for either!) So we layed down... then all of a sudden he rolls over and sort of props himself up and leans on my tummy while I am laying on my back. And pulls out a box... at this point I can barely see (my eyes were adjusting to the bright light from the window behind him) and he starts saying all this sweet stuff. I love you more than anything, I want to be with you forever, etc, etc, (he opens the box to reveal a beautiful ring) , will you marry me? I am STUNNED! and trying to convince myself that it is really happening because I have wanted it for so long and just didn't want to get my hopes up! But I of course said YES!!! so here we are today. Overwhelmed with the idea of planning a wedding. But so excited to finally becoming husband and wife!

Here's a pictures of us right after we opened our door. Our good friend Cj was standing there with a huge smile on his face and grabbed a camera for us, and then Joe snuck in the picture too! :)

And you may ask what is with the sapphires on the ring? Well it was an idea that Andrew came up with. He wanted to incorporate his birthstone into the ring to really make it about "us" I LOVE HIM!!!! :)
